Community overview

Active, social, and easy to keep up.

SummerGlen is a guard-gated 55+ golf community in southwest Ocala — about 1,024 site-built homes wrapped around an 18-hole championship course, just off I-75 at Exit 341 (County Road 484) in ZIP 34473.

Florida Leisure Communities took over the roughly 450-acre development in 2003, and the homes that followed — mostly built in the mid-2000s onward, in phases — are single-story, concrete-block houses with named floor plans like the Melbourne, Crestview, and Venice. Owners hold their lots fee-simple: there is no land lease. The honest trade-offs: a monthly HOA to budget for, golf that is pay-to-play rather than included, homes now old enough that roof and HVAC age matter, and a secluded setting that means a short drive for shopping and medical care.

01

Guard-gated 55+ living

An age-restricted community with a staffed, guard-gated entrance, sidewalks, street lighting, and deed restrictions that keep the streets looking cared for.

02

Golf through the middle of it

SummerGlen Golf Club’s 18-hole, par-72 course winds through the neighborhoods, so many homes sit on fairways or greens. Golf is optional and pay-to-play — it is not bundled into the HOA.

03

You own your lot

Homes are site-built (concrete block construction is common) and sold fee-simple — no land-lease payment on top of your mortgage and HOA.

04

Easy on and off I-75

Minutes from the I-75 / CR 484 interchange for shopping, dining, and medical care, near the Florida Horse Park, with The Villages a reasonable drive south.

One community, many ways to live it

Find your rhythm in SummerGlen.

SummerGlen was built in phases, and daily life here organizes itself around the course, the Residents’ Club, and a long list of clubs. Jennifer can help you weigh which streets and settings fit how you actually want to spend your days.

Golf-course streets

Fairway and green-front homes — including views of favorite holes — for buyers who want the course as their backyard, whether or not they play.

The social core

The Residents’ Club and Grand Hall host dances, shows, banquets, and club gatherings — the heartbeat of the community calendar.

Courts & fields

Tennis, pickleball, bocce, shuffleboard, horseshoes, basketball, and a softball field keep competitive and casual players busy year-round.

70+ clubs & activities

Listings and the association describe more than 70 clubs and activities — cards, crafts, billiards, library, fitness classes, and more.

Room for the toys

Two dog parks (small and large) and RV/boat storage on site — listings describe storage access for a one-time fee — make it easier to keep the travel gear close.

Golf-cart friendly days

Streets are golf-cart friendly throughout, so the club, the pool, the tavern, and friends’ driveways are all a short cart ride away.

Phase, lot position, and golf frontage change how a SummerGlen home lives and what it sells for. Jennifer tracks current listings across the community and can advise on the differences.

Lifestyle & amenities

A full calendar, steps from home.

The monthly HOA carries a lot of everyday life here — the guard gate, lawn care, trash and recycling, cable TV and high-speed internet, and access to the amenity core. Golf stays separate: the course is open to the public and residents play pay-to-play or by optional arrangements with the club.

SummerGlen Golf Club

18-hole championship course, par 72, at 1450 SW 154th Street Rd — open to the public; residents enjoy it pay-to-play, close to home.

Residents’ Club & Grand Hall

Clubhouse with Grand Hall for large events, plus billiards, craft room, library, and meeting spaces.

Heated pool & spa

Resort-style heated pool — described in listings as beach-entry — with a spa/hot tub beside the club.

Fitness center

A health-club style fitness center for residents, with classes and clubs built around it.

Courts & games

Tennis and pickleball courts, bocce, shuffleboard, horseshoes, basketball, and a softball field.

Tavern at the Glen

The on-site restaurant and tavern overlook the course — and listings note a $30 monthly food-and-beverage credit for residents.

Dog parks & RV storage

Separate small- and large-dog parks, a playground, and RV/boat storage within the community.

HOA — read the fine print

Recent listings commonly show about $390 per month covering guard-gate security, lawn mowing and edging, trash and recycling, cable TV, and high-speed internet. Amounts and inclusions change — verify the current fee with the association before you buy.

Home styles

Single-story, site-built, and sensibly sized.

SummerGlen homes are site-built single-family houses — concrete block construction is typical — in named floor plans, most with two to three bedrooms, a two-car garage, and a screened lanai or Florida room. Many were built in the mid-2000s, so ask about roof and HVAC age on any home you tour; well-kept listings often highlight newer roofs.

Why work with Jennifer

A Realtor since 2003 — and your financing resource, too.

Jennifer Hay has guided Ocala buyers and sellers since 2003. As a Broker Associate with Axen Realty and a Mortgage Loan Originator with NEXA Lending, she pairs neighborhood expertise with in-house financing guidance most agents can’t offer.

Two decades in Ocala

A Realtor since 2003, Jennifer knows southwest Ocala’s 55+ communities — how phases, lots, and update levels change what a SummerGlen home is worth.

Real estate + mortgage, one call

As an MLO with NEXA Lending, she can walk qualified buyers through financing options alongside the home search — no handoffs, no guesswork.

Right-sizing, handled with care

Many SummerGlen buyers are downsizing or relocating for retirement. Jennifer helps you weigh the total monthly picture — mortgage, HOA, and golf — before you commit.

Financing paths worth exploring.

Jennifer can help qualified buyers compare mortgage options through NEXA Lending. The right program depends on the borrower, property, occupancy, income, credit and current guidelines.

Conventional financing

Qualified buyers may choose from fixed- or adjustable-rate conventional options with down-payment and mortgage-insurance requirements that vary by program.

FHA financing

Qualified buyers may explore FHA options, which may offer more flexible credit and down-payment guidelines, subject to borrower and property eligibility.

VA financing

Eligible veterans, active-duty service members and certain surviving spouses may qualify for VA financing, which may include a zero-down-payment option.

Payment-first strategies

Qualified buyers may explore seller-paid rate buydowns and other concession strategies that compete on monthly payment — ask Jennifer how the numbers may work on a specific home.

Programs, rates, terms, loan limits and funding availability are subject to change. Not all borrowers, properties or communities will qualify. This is not a commitment to lend.
